Medical Director (Addiction Medicine)
Spero Health is seeking a Medical Director to join our team in Owensboro, KY and Henderson, KY. This position requires the ability to prescribe buprenorphine and will support and travel to both clinics to fulfill the mission of "Saving Lives, Instilling Hope, and Restoring Relationships" for individuals suffering from substance use disorder.

We provide medication‑assisted treatment, counseling, and case management to deliver comprehensive care while enabling patients to continue working and caring for their families.
Responsibilities- Provide supervision and clinical oversight to providers.
- Conduct initial evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing support for individuals with complex addiction and related health conditions.
- Complete full and appropriate documentation to support professional billing for services.
- Educate patients and families regarding illness and prognosis and support development of comprehensive care plans.
- Supervise clinical initiatives and processes, interpreting test results and providing feedback to patients.
- Educate and counsel patients regarding medication compliance.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to administer best care for patients needing both medical therapy and behavioral health services.
- Perform patient follow‑up visits regarding medication and/or treatment progress.
- Contact patient PCPs and specialists when necessary.
- Maintain required licensure, certifications, and CME credits.
- Review and oversee progress and treatment plans, including adjusting plans and reviewing 10% of charts.
- Be physically present onsite 25% of the time the facility is open to the public.
- Active and unrestricted medical license as a physician within the applicable state.
- Experience providing addiction medicine services for medically and socially complex populations; experience managing complex substance use disorders.
- Ability to develop relationships with network and community physicians and other providers.
- Current, active DEA licensure and prescriptive authority in applicable state(s).
- Ability to work on‑site with diverse care teams in a variety of settings.
- Effective time management and communication skills.
- Computer literacy and experience with electronic medical records.
