PARKS DEPARTMENT ANNUAL HIRING FOR NON-FULL TIME POSITIONS

• DAY CAMP (Operates year-round, when schools are out of session): Edge Ice Center (summer camp only) and Parks Administrative Center. Ice skating skills preferred for Edge Day Camp positions.

  C. FISHER PARK (February–November): Recreation facilities at Fisher Park and related roles.
• SWIMMING POOLS (COMBEST & CRAVENS; May–August): Pool facilities with lifeguard and related staff.
• SMOTHERS PARK (Year-round): Recreation facility operations and staff.
• EDGE ICE CENTER (Year-round): Recreation facility operations and staff.

• Day Camp Supervisor — Parks Admin site only (Requires age 18; HS Diploma; Valid Driver’s License). Experience in Education field or working with children in school, after-school, or day care setting preferred. Youth program planning experience also preferred. Salary: $15.00
• Day Camp Counselor — Parks Admin site only (Requires age 16). Salary: $13.51
• Day Camp Assistant Counselor — Both sites (Requires age 15). Salary: $12.75

• Recreation Facility Supervisor — Requires age 18; HS diploma;
  Valid Driver’s License. Salary: $16.36
• Recreation Facility Worker — Requires age 16. Salary: $12.75
• Laborer — Requires age 18;
  Valid Driver’s License. Salary: $15.00

• Lead Lifeguard — Requires age 17;
  Lifeguard Certification, plus 1 year of experience guarding at a public pool. Salary: $15.90
• Lifeguard — Requires age 15;
  Lifeguard Certification, paid for by the City of Owensboro after passing post-offer requirements. Salary: $15.00
• Recreation Facility Worker — Requires age 15. Salary: $12.75

• Recreation Facility Supervisor — Requires age 18; HS diploma;
  Valid Driver’s License. Salary: $16.36
• Recreation Facility Worker — Requires age 16. Salary: $12.75

• Day Camp Supervisor:
  Plans, organizes, and enacts the Day Camp Program; assists in problem-solving concerning participants; schedules activities; conducts special events.
• Day Camp Counselor:
  Provides supervision and care for participants; plans and leads daily activities, field trips, sports, special events, community projects, music, etc.
• Day Camp Assistant Counselor:
  Provides care for participants; helps plan and lead daily activities, field trips, sports, special events, community projects, music, etc.
• Recreation Facility Supervisor (Fisher Park/Smothers Park):
  Assists the Recreation Facilities Manager with cleanliness, safety, management, scheduling, and supervision of facility, leagues, and staff.
• Lifeguard:
  Enforce pool regulations and provide safety at pools.
• Recreation Facility Worker:
  Serves concession items, rink guarding, scorekeeping, and assists with special events as needed.

• High School Diploma or GED, unless age requirement for position is 15 or 16
• Valid Driver’s License, unless age requirement for position is 15 or 16
