WhatYou'll Do
Under the direction of the Dietary Services Manager the Cook contributes to the efficient operation of the department with responsibility to produce high quality meals in a safe and sanitary environment. They will also participate in the preparation and service of safe and nutritious meals to residents, staff and visitors in a pleasant and respectful manner.
What We're Looking ForEducation & Experience
- Enrollment in or completion of the Food Service Worker Certificate
- Chef training or culinary management diploma or certificate granted by a college of applied arts and technology or a career college
- Certificate of qualification in the trade of Cook or Institutional Cook that was issued by either the Director of Apprenticeship under the Apprenticeship and Certification Act, 1998, the Registrar of the College under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009 or the Registrar of Skilled Trades Ontario under the Building Opportunities in the Skilled Trades Act, 2021; or if, in the reasonable opinion of the licensee, you have appropriate skills, knowledge and experience (at least three years) in the fields of institutional, health care, restaurant or hospitality cooking to perform the duties required of the position.
- Safe Food Handling Certification as per O.Reg.
493/17 of the Food Premises Act

- Mature, reliable and able to work with minimal supervision
- Able to work within a team environment
- Genuine interest in the well‑being of the elderly
- Demonstrated patience, adaptability and flexibility
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to lift objects up to 50 lbs.
- Two‑step tuburculosis skin test
- Clear criminal background check including vulnerable sector screening
- Competitive Salary: $28.80 per hour (Cook) $26.96 per hour (FSW)
- Percentage in lieu of benefits

This position is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in the collective agreement between UNIFOR and the County of Bruce.
