The Opportunity
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Automation & Controls Technician maintains, troubleshoots, programs and repairs automated hvac system, central boiler & chiller plant, electrical distribution, irrigation and other controls systems and components, working with controls system suppliers and contracted controls integrators. They calibrate and validate correct operation of controlled devices throughout the facility and provide data reporting to support optimization, energy efficiency and GMP or GPP validation initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have sound knowledge of electrical and mechanical concepts, HVAC, Boilers, Chillers, and Program Logic Control.
Responsibilities
Maintain, troubleshoot, optimize and repair automated systems within the Tweed, Inc. KIN facility with help from staff experts & technicians, third party engineers & controls system suppliers, and controls integration contractors.
Participate in managing both operational repair and maintenance and capital project scopes of work as assigned.
Provide technical support for instrumentation and controls systems such as;
Priva Top Control & Priva Office systems
Modsync Boiler Control and York Chiller controls
Schneider electrical distribution equipment and stand-alone metering devices.
Sensor & actuator calibration & troubleshooting
Safety circuits
Relay Logic
Building Automation System integration of diverse OEM control equipment.
Configuration & rationalization of alarms for critical equipment
Complete startup/commissioning/calibration and validation for controlled equipment
Use the corporate Quality Management System for document control and the FIIX CMMS asset management and work order system for documenting installed assets & completed tasks..
Follow Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Production Practices (GPP), and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) regulations and guidelines
Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions (WIs) in a highly regulated environment
Configure alarms for environmental conditions and equipment failure and manage access to controls environments by staff and contractors.
Execute continuous improvement projects to improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs
Must be able to work in a team and individually.

Experience
Diploma from a certified post-secondary 2-year Technician or 3-year Technologist program.
4 years work experience in a related industry required.
Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical equipment, sensors, pump and motor controls, controlled valves & dampers, etc.
Solid knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical concepts required.
Programming and troubleshooting experience with programmable devices an asset
