Will You Do?
As a Software License and Compliance Specialist, you will assist with managing Federated’s Information Technology software assets. The Software License and Compliance Specialist will oversee the full lifecycle of an organization’s software assets. This role ensures that technological investments are tracked, optimized, compliant, and aligned with business needs. The Software License and Compliance Specialist will work closely with IT Leadership, IT Primary Software Experts, IT Security, IT Procurement, Business Finance, and vendors to maintain accurate software inventory, reduce risk, and control costs.
This is an in‑person role, and employees are required to work onsite in Owatonna, MN. Remote or hybrid work arrangements are not available for this position.
Responsibilities- Manage license reconciliations and audits.
- Analyze license usage patterns and software asset deployment.
- Track software usage and entitlements to ensure compliance with licensing agreements.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of all IT software assets (software, cloud subscriptions, licenses).
- Oversee the software asset lifecycle processes including procurement, deployment, maintenance, upgrades, and retirement.
- Research software licensing models, product use rights and licensing metrics/entitlements, as needed.

- Ensures timely renewal of all software agreements, justify new requirements, and identify cost efficiencies and saving opportunities based on the company’s future usage plans.
- Reviews and approves vendor invoicing to ensure accurate billing and calculation of maintenance fees (where appropriate), based on licensing entitlement.
- Facilitates monthly software maintenance renewals with IT application owners, internal business/functional owners and vendors.
- Other ad-hoc tasks, as assigned, to support IT Services.
- 5+ years of IT Asset Management experience specializing in software license and compliance
- Prior experience with software discovery tools
- Strong technical aptitude using software products
- Experience communicating with 3rd parties/vendors and handling contracts
- Ability to manage shifting priorities
- Creative problem solving skills and the ability to be adaptable
- Strong customer service and effective communication skills, attention to detail
Pay range is $90,400 - $122,200. Pay may vary depending on job-related factors and individual experience, skills, knowledge, etc. More information can be discussed with a member of the Recruiting team.
