Overview

Job Purpose

The Healthy Living Coordinator shall be responsible for representing and promoting the mission and benefits of the YMCA of Greater Tulsa by working closely with assigned Director to develop operational objectives and innovative approaches for membership and program growth and retention through program development related to Healthy Living.

The coordinator will lead all day-to-day functions of the Healthy Living and Association Personal Training Department and related facility management. This person will give leadership in these areas and be responsible for the planning, coordination, and administration efforts to ensure consistent, superior service procedures to maximize member enrollment and program participation. They will build and maintain relationships with area companies and organizations to increase association membership.

This includes working public and private events, and other times as needed or directed by the business needs and expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Work with assigned Director on budgeting for all areas of responsibility fitness floor, group exercise, & association personal training programs.
  • Ensure growth of group exercise programs, water exercise programs and other fitness related programming.
  • Work with assigned Director to research and maintain cutting edge fitness and wellness classes and programs
  • Recruit, develop and lead wellness staff.
  • Distribute wellness information including scheduling.
  • Assist with promotions for fitness including flyers, newsletter, news releases, advertisements, etc.
  • Responsible for all communication coming from fitness to the branch.
  • Seek out, represent, and promote the mission of the YMCA at a variety of functions, including but not limited to employee health and benefit fairs and community events, including some evening and/or weekend activities.
  • Reach annual goals for continuous improvement of both quality and quantity of areas of supervision.
  • Engage in active listening with prospects and existing contacts to build relationships, understand organizational goals and interests, and take the initiative to ensure they have a positive experience.
  • Help prospects and members experience the YMCA by introducing them to other group membership participants, YMCA staff and members. By creating these interactions, we will demonstrate that the YMCA is a place where we take the time to connect, communicate and engage in respectful and friendly relationships. Develop new opportunities for participants to interact with one another. Be a “Relationship Builder” for the YMCA.
  • Provide accurate information about membership and programs.
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures regarding the prevention of abuse.
  • Report any suspected abuse, neglect, or misconduct immediately to the appropriate supervisory staff.
  • Attend mandatory training on abuse prevention, including recognizing signs of abuse, and reporting requirements.
Qualifications
  • Required:
  • Must be 18 years old
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associate’s degree or 2 year’s experience in related field
  • Supervisory Experience
  • Personal Training Certification and/or 2 years’ work experience in related field
  • Interpersonal & coaching skills
  • CPR/First Aid/AED/Oxygen Administration (will provide upon employment)
  • Preferred:
  • Ability to build strong relationships, inspire confidence, and work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Understands the YMCA Mission and purpose as a cause-driven movement
  • Demonstrated competencies in the areas of staff development, relationship building skills, conflict resolution, and resource development
  • Knowledge of fitness trends in the health and wellness community
