POOL MANAGER – HEIGHTS FAC - Parks and Recreation
JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, supervise swimming pool facility, assistant pool manager(s) and lifeguard personnel day-to-day, at multiple locations. Maintain pool facility and grounds. Operate circulation pump, motor, valves and vacuum system. Work with chemicals to keep pool water safe and balanced. Reconcile cash register receipts. Compile written reports as needed. Perform other related work as required.
Essential Job Functions- Supervise lifeguards and pool patrons visually and audibly to ensure health/safety standards are properly maintained.
- Operate the continuous programs of the swimming pool(s).
- Keep pool open during all operating hours.
- Operate pool circulation system.
- Maintain proper chemical balance of pool water.
- Communicate and interact courteously and effectively with other city employees, officials, and patrons. Practice continuous public relations in dealing with pool patrons.
- Maintain supplies and equipment inventory accurately.
- Conduct continuous on-the-job training for pool personnel.
- Reconcile cash register receipts. Accurately report and deposit cash receipts twice daily. Perform other cash handling responsibilities as required by supervisor. Implement and enforce all city/departmental cash-handling policies.
- Compile written reports as needed. Fill out handwritten reports correctly.
- Attend weekly staff meetings as required.
- Add, subtract, and make change accurately.
- Sit for long periods.
- Work in extreme heat, with appropriate safety precautions.
- Run, climb, and descend from lifeguard stand.
- Carry, push, pull, drag, and/or hold objects up to 50 pounds (equipment or furniture).
- Must have completed at least two (2) years of high school or greater.
- Current certifications in Lifeguard Training (YMCA or American Red Cross), CPR for Professional Rescuers, and First Aid preferred.
- Texas Driver’s License, Class C, required. (Or must become CPR for Professional Rescuers and First Aid certified within 30 days.)
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience required in lifeguarding, pool operation, and pool maintenance.
- Must have ability to: supervise personnel, make quick decisions, and cope effectively with large crowds and high noise levels.
- Experience conducting in-service/safety trainings preferred.
- Good written/verbal language skills required.
- Must be willing and able to implement and enforce cash-handling policies.
- Excellent decision-making skills and ability to offer high level of customer service required.
Must hold current certifications in Lifeguard Training (American Red Cross), CPRPR, and First Aid. Texas Driver’s License, Class C, required. Preferred Lifeguard Instructor Certification. American Red Cross Lifeguard certification required.
