Position: Engineering Associate II (Utilities Project Manager)

Pay Schedule I, Grade 26, Regular

Schedule:

35 hours per week

A vacancy exists in the Department of Public Works and Transportation, Bureau of Utilities.

Under general supervision, performs advanced subprofessional engineering, drafting, design, simulation, and computational work.

Responsibilities
  • Performs various work in the management of utility maintenance and repair projects, including updating project records, reviewing and approving project submittals, tracking project schedules, and investigating issues preventing work completion or causing system deficiencies.
  • Operates computers and peripheral equipment to perform GIS work, research engineer drawings, and performs deed research to assist with planned utility repair and maintenance work.
  • Conducts field visits to investigate system deficiencies and confirm the need for planned work or determine necessary changes to project scope.
  • Analyzes engineering drawings to advise field crews.
  • Prepares estimates of the cost and quantity of materials required for maintenance and repair projects.
  • Participates in meetings with professional engineers, contractors, field staff supervisors, and consulting agencies.
  • Represent the County in meetings and correspondence with property owners, contractors, and consultants.
  • Prepares reports and records as necessary.

Possession of a high school diploma or an appropriate equivalent

plus

Six years' subprofessional engineering experience.

Additional qualifying education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis up to maximum of four years for the required experience.

Applicants are required to submit proof of licenses, certifications and education beyond high school to meet the required and preferred qualifications of the position. Diplomas or transcripts must show the applicant's major field of study. Copies and unofficial transcripts are acceptable.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE
