Description

J Baseball/J Softball is a fun, recreational program that emphasizes teamwork and good sportsmanship. This position is seasonal and offers a flexible schedule that works around school and activities. Training is provided and this role can be a great first job for anyone wanting to enter the Sports + Recreation field.

This position is seasonal, active April through mid-July and may offer a Fall option. Evenings and weekends are required.

• Officiate baseball/softball games for players aged 6-15, including machine-pitch and coach-pitch formats for younger players
• Apply training to ensure a safe, fair, and enjoyable game experience
• Support a positive team environment focused on sportsmanship and teamwork

• Pay starts at minimum of $24+ per game, dependent on experience
• Free staff membership during the baseball/softball season
• Discount on concessions when you work

• Umpires must be at least 15 years of age with a good understanding of baseball and/or softball or an interest in learning
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes weekday evenings and weekend daytime and evening shifts
• Works well independently and with coworkers
• Punctuality

• Physical fitness and stamina to keep up with the pace of the game
• Constant standing, walking and exposure to outdoor weather
• Frequent walking/running, eye/hand/foot coordination, talking and hearing
