Primarily Kansas and Missouri markets; travel may extend across the continental U.S. as project needs arise.
Position Summary &Key Responsibilities
The BAS Technician II supports the installation, programming, startup, and commissioning of Building Automation Systems. Working closely with the BAS Team Leader, this position bridges field execution with project management—ensuring each project is completed safely, efficiently, and to specification. The Technician II demonstrates growing technical proficiency, mentors entry-level technicians, and contributes to maintaining NSC’s standard of excellence in quality, communication, and customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Execute installation, wiring, and checkout of BAS controllers, sensors, and network devices.
- Assist the Team Leader in developing and following project installation plans and schedules.
- Support commissioning, programming, and graphics deployment for BAS projects.
- Perform point‑to‑point verification, calibration, and functional testing of control sequences.
- Troubleshoot communication networks (BACnet, Modbus, IP) and resolve technical issues.
- Maintain accurate field documentation, redlines, and as‑built information.
- Provide timely feedback and field updates to the Team Leader regarding progress, issues, and material needs.
- Participate in project meetings and jobsite coordination with other trades.
- Ensure adherence to NSC safety policies and quality standards.
- Maintain organized tools, vehicles, and work areas.
- Assist with customer training and system turnover.
- Support service and warranty calls on completed installations.
- Stay current with Delta Controls, 75F, and other NSC product line training and certification.
- Mentor Level I Technicians and assist with onboarding new field staff.
- Engage in continuous improvement activities and contribute to best‑practice development.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of HVAC and control system fundamentals, including sensor calibration, controller addressing, and control wiring.
- Problem Solving: Diagnoses issues logically and implements effective solutions in the field.
- Communication: Maintains clear, professional communication with teammates, customers, and subcontractors.

Works cooperatively under the guidance of the Team Leader to meet schedule, budget, and performance goals. - Quality Orientation: Pays close attention to detail to ensure clean, accurate, and high‑quality installations.
- 3–5 years of experience in building automation, HVAC controls, or related technical field.
- Associate’s degree in HVAC, electrical technology, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Proficiency in reading control drawings, wiring diagrams, and mechanical plans.
- Familiarity with control networks (BACnet/IP, MSTP, Modbus, etc.).
- Basic programming experience with Delta Controls or Niagara preferred.
- Competent computer skills (Microsoft Office, network setup, control front‑ends).
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
