Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring KS or compact licensure and strong telemetry and acute rehab skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 30-bed Progressive Care Unit with an emphasis on acute rehab services

• Average daily census is patients with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 on all shifts

• Telemetry monitoring (both on-unit and remote) is required

• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30)

• Epic EMR is used for charting

• Regular floating between departments, units, and facilities as needed

• Must work a minimum of 8 weekend shifts per 6-week period

• Lift equipment is available to support safe patient handling

• Responsibilities include the full scope of PCU and rehab nursing with focus on telemetry and complex medical care

• Must follow navy blue scrub dress code for RNs

• Holiday coverage is required if the shift falls on a scheduled workday

• No on-call requirements

• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off (RTO) is allowed

• Candidates with diluted or positive drug screens not cleared by the MRO are ineligible and must wait 6 months before reapplying

• No travel partners accepted for this assignment

• Annual and pre-start compliance modules (estimated 5-8 hours) are required

Requirements

• Active KS or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration (Missouri license may also be required for floating)

• BLS certification required

• At least 2 years of recent specialty experience required, with at least 1 year of in-specialty experience within the last 12 months and no employment gap over 90 days

• Experience in acute rehab hospital and telemetry required

• Skills in blood glucose monitoring, insulin protocols, central line care (PICC), starting and maintaining IVs, pulse oximetry, fall risk assessment/prevention, infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, thickened liquids, Foley catheter removal, and blood product administration

• Proficiency with Epic EMR preferred

• Two professional references from the past year, including one from a supervisor, are required

• SSN must be provided for consideration

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
