We

are looking for a Land Development Team Leader to join our Overland Park, KS team. Responsibilities
  • Deliver the OWN Experience every day by focusing on what drives our success—Clients, OWNers, Safety, Quality, and Financial Health.
  • Lead technical teams in maximizing success at each phase of the project lifecycle.
  • Manage assigned projects to ensure quality, schedule, and budget goals are achieved.
  • Lead project kickoffs, define scope, establish schedules and budgets, and monitor progress throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Implement and enforce company standards, QA/QC procedures, and quality control processes on all projects.
  • Identify project risks and collaborate with Group Leaders to develop and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct project debriefs and promote continuous improvement in delivery and collaboration.
  • Champion a culture of safety, ensuring all OWNers and clients maintain safe work practices.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage assigned team members to support their development, engagement, and utilization.
  • Conduct performance reviews, providing coaching, feedback, and career development guidance.
  • Support onboarding, training, and skill development initiatives for team members
  • Provide day-to-day direction on workload, priorities, and professional growth.
  • Partner with Group Leaders on personnel decisions, including hiring, promotions, compensation, and performance management.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture that reflects OWN’s values and guiding principles.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact on assigned projects.
  • Contribute to the division’s business development strategy by pursuing opportunities that bring work into the firm, providing outstanding client service, and strengthening client loyalty and long-term retention.
  • Collaborate with Market Leaders and Group Leaders on strategic project and client pursuits and client engagement activities.
  • Utilize CRM to track client interactions, relationships, and opportunities.
  • Manage project-level financials, including scope, budgets, and profitability.
  • Monitor and report on WIP, billing, collections, and other key financial metrics.
  • Ensure project performance aligns with group and division financial objectives.
  • Contribute to process improvement and operational excellence across the division.
  • Promote cross-division culture, collaboration and communication to strengthen firmwide cohesion and efficiency.
Qualifications
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or related field preferred
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Missouri preferred
  • 10-15 years of engineering experience focused in Land Development projects
  • Experience in business development activities such as managing client relationships, pursuing new project opportunities, and developing lasting client relationships
  • Experience in project management activities such as determining project requirements, establishing scope of work, and determining design budgets.
  • Extensive experience in leading teams preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
