At A.L. Huber, our Project Managers are an integral part of our business. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to manage, oversee, and serve as A.L. Huber's representative on lucrative construction projects. You will represent A.L. Huber by executing and managing on behalf of the client to successfully complete quality projects on time and within budget. Complying with safety standards while exceeding client expectations is key.

You'll also have the opportunity to maintain and build existing business relationships and generate new business relationships. The Project Manager will deliver the most impact by overseeing $5–$25M projects from start to finish. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of your work, contribute to long‑term success as an employee‑owner, and grow with a 123‑year‑old Kansas City builder.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carefully manage the intended outcome that balances owner contract, budget, timeand cost limitations.
  • Act as the center of activities reaching out to the Owner (or Owner's representative), Trade Partnersand Superintendent involved in the process.
  • Provide the direction that the Superintendent needs, fora successful completion, and meet the quality standards of the company.
  • Make decisions that demonstrate full knowledge of the project's status and binding together the many diverse elements, which bring about successful completion.
  • Carefully manage the intended outcome that balances owner and architect expectations, budget, timeand cost limitations.
  • The Project Manageris in charge ofmaking decisions thatdeterminethe project's cost and success.
  • Determine work priorities, including planning and coordinating work.
  • Develop new control procedures and strategies for the attainment of improved productivity.

    Visualize the completed results,from customer instructions.
  • Make independent choices concerning matters of significance, such as whether to vary from prescribed standards, permitted tolerances, or normal procedures and sound ways if needbein order to achieve the customer's and A.L. Huber's project goals.
  • Develop and build relationships with Clients, Owner’s Representatives, Architects, and Trade Partners with a focus to generate new opportunities.
  • Actively work to develop new business relationships which result in new project opportunities.
  • Have a strong work ethic and a “can do” attitude. Work with energy, enthusiasm and a sense of urgency. Is a leader on the project offering valuable solutions and bringing value to every action and is a proactive problem solver. Communicate respectfully, clearly and openly.
  • The Project Managerdemonstratesthe integrity and moral fortitude to not violate Huber Industries’ core values, by using sound engineering judgment, following building codes and abiding by the laws of the United States, the States and Cities in which the company does business. When asked for a judgment call, he/she will always ask, “is this ethically appropriate.”
  • Excellent grasp of the management of multiple responsibilities in a fast‑paced environment and outstanding memory and retention capabilities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree fromfour-year college or university in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Administrationor a related fieldwith a strong, proven background in allfacetsof managing and administering projects.
  • Minimum of 5 years of construction industry experience; 8+ years is preferred, specifically in the Project Management space.
  • Knowledge of all phases of building construction, including work commonly done by the various building crafts and a thorough understanding of electrical,mechanical and structural systems.

    Knowledge of building materials and the ability to read blueprints. Extroverted personality with supervisory ability and the ability to guide the efforts of vendors and trade partners.
  • Excellent grasp of the management of multiple responsibilities in a fast‑paced environment, cost controls, estimating and collection abilities.
  • Strong Communication personality with the ability to guide the efforts of vendors and trade partners. Field experience and Dale Carnegie training preferred but not necessary.
  • Demonstrates good judgement and able to have a working relationship with managers and other employees and able to tactfully handle difficult situations, make the best use of time during the workday and recognizes and deals with priorities
  • Ability to use software such project management software,Excel and Word. Procore experience is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license
