Underwriting Rating Specialist

Overview

Lockton Affinity, located in Overland Park, Kansas, is currently hiring for a person to join the Underwriting team as an Underwriting Specialist. Our Underwriting team serves as an insurance industry advocate with a focus on improving the customer experience by understanding their risk and properly insuring their exposures. This position will be responsible for technical rating, endorsing, and issuance of insurance policies.

• Accurately rates all new business, renewals and endorsements for assigned programs.
• Policy issuance according to state requirements.
• Work within pre-established time frames and underwriting authority to meet service standards.
• Refer all business outside of pricing and underwriting authority.
• Keep personal and assigned library manuals up-to-date and within established guidelines.
• Makes positive contribution to customer’s satisfaction and constantly strives to improve service to the customer.
• Communicates in a positive manner to contribute to a cohesive, pleasant work environment.
• Protects the confidentiality of information learned by performing the duties of the position.

• High school diploma or equivalent education and/or experience with online and manual rating.
• Comprehensive understanding and application of concepts, practices, and procedures related to insurance, typically acquired through 1-3 years commercial Property and Casualty insurance experience.
• Ability to work independently and exercise good judgement in accordance with regulatory and carrier requirements on moderately complex items.
• Proficiency using Microsoft products.
• Solid aptitude for mathematical proficiency.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Organizational and time management skills to meet time sensitive deadlines.
