We are looking for a dedicated Surgical Technologist First Assist to be part of our team. HCA Healthcare has committed up to $300 million in programs to support our colleagues over three years.
Job SummaryThe Surgical First Assistant will perform in the role of Surgical First Assistant under the direct supervision of the surgeon.
What You Will Do In This Role- Maintain certification and stay current on all new practices and procedures through continuing education. This position will be executed in addition to the current facility description of the O.R. tech.
- Be proficient in the first scrub and assistant position in at least four or more of the following specialties:
Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Cardiovascular, Plastic and Reconstructive, Obstetrics/Gynecology, ENT and General Surgery. - Work within the scope of practice for the non-MD First Assistant as set forth by the American College of Surgeons and by OPRMC.
- Successful completion of a course for education and training in surgical first assisting.
- Current national certification through one of the following bodies: LLC-ST, NSAA, ABSA, or NRSA, or equivalent; BCLS affirmation required.
- Minimum of five years of surgical scrub experience in a variety of surgical specialties (Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Cardiovascular, Plastic and Reconstructive, Gynecology, ENT and General Surgery); cardiothoracic experience preferred. One year of experience as a certified first assistant is required.
Overland Park Regional Medical Center is a 340+ bed facility offering acute medical services. The hospital has a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Level II Trauma Center, Accredited Stroke and Chest Pain Center, and Women’s & Children’s healthcare services. It includes a Maternal Fetal Health Center, antepartum unit, labor and delivery, and a Level III NICU. The campus includes multiple emergency rooms and serves thousands of patients annually.
