About Balanced OpsBalanced Ops provides fractional accounting, finance, and operational leadership to nonprofits and growing mission-driven organizations. We partner with executive teams to build strong financial systems, improve reporting clarity, and create the operational infrastructure required for sustainable growth.
We are not just bookkeepers — and not quite traditional CFOs. We sit in the middle, ensuring that financial operations are tight, strategic decisions are grounded in real data, and leadership teams have what they need to move confidently.
As we continue to grow, we are building a senior team that can deepen client impact while strengthening our internal infrastructure.
The RoleWe’re seeking a Director of Financial Operations to serve as a senior-level, client-facing finance leader across a portfolio of clients. This role bridges the gap between core financial operations and CFO advisory.
You will oversee the integrity of monthly financial processes, elevate reporting and analysis, and engage directly with client leadership to ensure financial information is accurate, timely, and actionable.
This role also plays a key part in the continued growth of Balanced Ops — helping refine service delivery, strengthen internal systems, mentor junior team members, and contribute to how we scale responsibly.
This is a fractional contract role averaging approximately 10 hours per week, with potential to expand as the firm grows.
Availability Requirement: While much of the work can be completed flexibly, the Director must be available for scheduled client meetings and internal team meetings during standard business hours which are typically 1-2 hours per week.
