The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Staff Engineering Technician supports civil site development by producing and modifying engineering drawings and models under general supervision. This role applies foundational civil engineering principles to develop accurate, high‑quality deliverables using tools such as Autodesk Civil 3D, helping ensure site designs are functional and aligned with mission critical goals.
In this role you will have the opportunity to:
- Function in a project engineering technician capacity.
- Under general direction, support engineering and design teams by developing and modifying technical deliverables.
- Apply foundational engineering principles and established design practices to create moderately complex design concepts and solutions.
- Utilize digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables.
- Provide technical guidance and may offer direction to other engineering professionals and technicians to ensure quality and consistency across project outputs.

Key Responsibilities- Apply knowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, applicable codes and BV policies and procedures.
- Review project requirements and determine the correct format and contents of the required deliverables.
- Proactively apply BV Quality Program to deliverables. Demonstrate personal accuracy and support continuous improvement and change management efforts.
- Review design inputs to ensure consistency and compliance with specific codes and standards suitable for the project.
- Apply basic engineering principles and established design practices in developing moderately complex design concepts and deliverables. Make decisions with respect to deliverables and input interpretation.
- Handle difficult technical assignments within an area of expertise and provide technical guidance to other professionals.
- Perform design calculations, detailed material quantities and estimates, and records.
- Review the deliverables of others where appropriate.
- Define work assignments and maintain schedules where required.
- Participate in program control systems or plant start‑up activities associated with a specialized area of expertise.
