Base Pay Range

$40.00/hr - $42.00/hr

Position Summary

Reporting to a Field Service Manager, a Field Service Engineer will maintain technical responsibility over the Mevion Medical Systems Proton Therapy System. The engineer will learn and become proficient in operating the Proton Therapy System (PTS) and related work functions, and will regularly interact with the customer’s professional and technical staff to resolve operational issues with Mevion products at customer sites.

Functions
  • Operate Proton Therapy System, including troubleshooting and post‑service testing.
  • Provide customer support through on‑site operation, corrective and preventive maintenance of proton therapy equipment and ancillary devices.
  • Clearly communicate system status to the customer and Mevion employees.
  • Work on other complex clinical systems related to the Proton Therapy System, including motion control systems, CT scanners, X‑ray and radiological technology devices and robotic manipulators.
  • Ensure PT devices perform according to specification, monitoring daily treatments and system performance, and reporting corrective actions.
  • Maintain compliance with quality and technical standards, documenting all complaints and key performance indicators.
  • Maintain equipment and systems according to the maintenance schedule.
  • Troubleshoot PTS equipment, including electrical, mechanical and software problems, and repair equipment as needed.
  • Report and document interventions with required detail and accuracy per facility, RA/QA and FDA regulations.
  • Meet key performance indicators such as throughput, customer satisfaction and uptime.
  • Maintain a high level of professional knowledge and safety consciousness in accordance with Mevion guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean working environment and conduct itself in line with safety and regulatory rules.
  • Maintain calibrated equipment and tooling as specified.
  • Manage on‑site inventory and parts duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Service Management.
Education, Training, and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Engineering, Physics, or related field preferred, or 4–6+ years of technical experience in the military or equivalent.
  • Experience with radiation therapy equipment is a plus.
  • Electrical, mechanical and electronic proficiency.
  • Experience with computer interfaces, instrumentation and control systems.
  • Preferred experience with proton systems.
  • Strong interest in new technology and continuous learning.
  • Sound computer usage and debugging skills.
  • Knowledge of network technologies.
  • Solid understanding of imaging systems.
  • Experience with Salesforce or equivalent CRM desired.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and data analysis techniques required.
  • Medical Physics experience is a plus.
  • Experience with dosimetry hardware & software.
Familiarity With The Following Is a Plus
  • Cooling systems, cryogenics, vacuum systems, PLCs, regulation loops, drivers, sensors, electric motors, high‑voltage equipment, low‑voltage equipment, etc.
  • Mechanical system repair, maintenance, and operation of large systems.
Must Have the Ability to Learn the Following within the First Six Months
  • Learn operating principles and service techniques for subsystems of MEVION equipment.
  • Become proficient in all software, control system components and user interfaces of the MEVION systems.
  • Understand electrical, vacuum, water‑cooling systems of MEVION equipment and hospital infrastructure.
