Position SummaryThe JCCC Electronics Technology department is seeking a full-time faculty instructor to teach courses in analog and digital electronics. Our program prepares students to work as electronic technicians. All coursework combines classroom and hands-on laboratory experiences; critical thinking skills emphasized include troubleshooting and analysis.
Our digital electronics sequence covers a wide range of topics including binary and hexadecimal number systems, basic Boolean algebra, logic gates, registers, flip-flops, computer architecture, microprocessors, microcontrollers, embedded programming concepts, and analog/digital interfacing. The sequence culminates in a capstone experience where students implement a unique digital system centered around a microcontroller.
Required Qualifications:
Vocational Certificate in Electronics with 7 years work experience in the field being taught
OR Associate's degree with 5 years work experience in the field being taught
OR Bachelor's degree with 3 years work experience in the field being taught
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering technology, or a closely related discipline
Industry experience in both analog and digital electronics in either design or manufacturing
Proficiency in software development within embedded computing environments
Teaching experience in the field at the college level
Experience in RF communication systems and techniques at the systems as well as component/subsystem levels

Teaching:
Faculty members are expected to be effective teachers and excel in course instruction. Responsible for selecting and developing instructional materials; planning and organizing instruction to enhance student learning; creating assignments to encourage student learning, communication skills, and higher order thinking;
and using available instructional technology as appropriate. Use a variety of proven methods of engagement and assessment to facilitate student mastery. Provide constructive feedback and evaluate student learning by applying course competencies and accurately evaluating student progress. Seek to increase teaching effectiveness through appropriate teaching and learning strategies and to meet diverse student needs. Maintain professional standards and meet institutional expectations, including meeting classes as scheduled, notifying leadership if absent, and arranging substitutes when possible;
be accessible to students; prepare and distribute syllabi; maintain accurate records of student performance; and handle confidential information appropriately.
