Position: Library Assistant
Department: Academic Affairs
Type of Position: Part-time Temporary
Exemption Status: Non-Exempt
Work Schedule, Hours per week: Tuesday, Thursday 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Sunday 1:00 to 5:00, 12 hours per week
Opportunity for hybrid schedule: No
Starting Salary Range: $16.31-$20.77 and determined based on relevant years of work experience provided on application and resume.
Position SummaryPerform public service duties at the Library Lending Services Desk and provide back-office library materials processing.
Qualifications- Requires a High School Diploma and at least 1 year of related experience.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Create student IDs and issue library cards.
- Check-out, renew, and check-in library materials.
- Shelve and maintain returned book stacks and inventory the collection.
- Review, edit, and import bibliographic records for new materials added to the library’s collection.
- Provide general information and direction about library programs and services.
- Provide computer and reference assistance to library patrons when needed.
- Maintain general appearance of the library, including cleaning counters, watering plants, and running various errands.
- Assist in recommending best practices or ideas for improvement regarding circulation procedures.
- Explain and enforce library policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
