Starting Salary Range: $61,699.00 – $, determined based on relevant years of work experience provided on application and resume.

Position Summary

The 12‑month Full‑time Assistant Professor in the Health Occupations will perform the duties expected of full‑time faculty, including maintaining scheduled office hours, developing and revising curriculum, implementing course and program assessment of student learning outcomes, participating in college, division, and department meetings, serving on committees, and other duties as assigned. The individual will also ensure Certified Nurse Aide checkoffs are completed appropriately and within regulatory standards, assist the director of the Health Occupation program in orienting new faculty, and conduct peer reviews of CNA and CMA courses.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year or 1,750 hours in long‑term care registered nursing license in Kansas or a multi‑state license.
  • 3–5 years of clinical work experience with a focus on long‑term care.
  • Class, lab, and/or teaching ability.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing Education.
  • 5+ years in long‑term care.
Position Details

Job duties include but are not limited to:

Teaching – Faculty members are expected to be effective teachers and excel in course instruction. Effective teaching requires content expertise, professional development, compliance with accreditation, sound instructional methods, and a supportive learning environment.

Faculty are expected to: develop instructional materials; plan and organize instruction; create assignments that promote higher‑order thinking; use instructional technology; engage students; provide constructive feedback; evaluate student learning; and adapt instruction to meet diverse needs.

Faculty are also expected to maintain professional standards: meet scheduled classes, notify leadership of absences, be accessible to students, prepare syllabi, maintain accurate records, respect confidentiality, and respond promptly to grading inquiries.

Members of the College Community – Faculty are expected to be active participants in the college community, fulfilling all policy requirements, attending required meetings, contributing to collegial culture, serving on committees, participating in professional development, and assisting in recruitment and retention efforts.

Additional duties, as required by business necessity, may be added, deleted, or changed at any time.
