Staff Accountant

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Staff Accountant to join our corporate team in Overland Park, KS. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations and month end close process for several National and State Parks. You will work closely with the accounting team and play a key role in maintaining the company's financial health.

• Compile data and enter into journal entries for month close
• Perform bank reconciliations for multiple accounts
• Complete account reconciliations for month close
• Work with operations teams to identify cash discrepancies
• Prepare monthly reports for regulatory agencies
• Perform analysis of budget to actual and period over period balance sheet and income statement variances, as directed by management
• Prepare and file sales tax returns
• Other special projects as assigned by Sr. Accountant or Controller

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles
• Must be self-motivated with the desire to perform at the highest professional and ethical standards
• Must respond well to a changing work environment
• Must have strong analytical and problem resolution skills with the ability to proactively recommend solutions
• Must demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Excellent customer service and people skills
• Must be extremely organized with strong attention to details
• Be a positive team player with a “can-do” attitude

Education:

BA/BS in Accounting or related field of study

Experience:

1 year accounting experience a plus but not required
