Overview

We are seeking an exceptional and experienced senior leader to join us as Assistant Headteacher:
Behaviour and Inclusion—someone who shares our belief that every young person deserves to feel safe, included and empowered to succeed. This is a pivotal role within our senior leadership team, offering the opportunity to shape whole‑school culture, strengthen inclusive practice and lead highly committed pastoral and behaviour teams. You will play a central part in sustaining our exemplary standards, driving strategic improvement and ensuring that every student experiences the calm, purposeful and aspirational environment they need to thrive.

With strong staff wellbeing support, high‑quality professional development and the chance to make a profound, visible difference across our community, this is an exciting time to join Prince William School and help shape the future of our students. We welcome applicants who have proven experience of senior or executive level, whole school strategic leadership in pastoral, behaviour or SEND provision.

About EMAT

EMAT is an exciting, innovative, and growing organisation where we strive to do things differently, aligned with our core values and purpose: that every child deserves to be the best they can be. Our Trust was incorporated in July 2012 to establish, maintain, manage, and develop academies and free schools as world‑class centres of excellence. We are a collaborative partnership that currently includes an all‑through school in Northampton, a secondary school in Oundle, and five primary schools in Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes.

By working for our Trust, you’ll be able to take advantage of a wealth of professional development and support opportunities, as well as a range of employee benefits.

These include:

  • Continuous professional development and training opportunities.
  • Career and leadership opportunities within our growing family of schools.
  • A confidential 24‑hour Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Access to the Teachers’ Pension Scheme
  • Flu jabs for all staff.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Access to health and wellbeing benefits, including an online GP.
  • Access to an employee lifestyle savings platform.
  • Generous family leave.

About the School

We are opening a new ARP based at Prince William School with a future capacity of 48 students with emotionally based school avoidance, a diagnosis of anxiety, and/or an ASD diagnosis who are engaging with external support or open to receiving clinical support. The young person’s profile will be one of emotionally based school avoidance who is finding it difficult to attend school.

The APR is for students who will be aged 11‑16. Our aim is to provide a physical and emotionally safe provision for our pupils, so that they feel able to improve their attendance from their previous setting(s). Our therapeutic led ARP will deliver an individualised offer for each pupil in a way that addresses individual barriers to learning so that pupils achieve well.

Our ARP will provide a supportive environment underpinned by strong and respectful relationships between pupils, staff, and their families.

General Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Reduction in behaviour incidents and time lost to disruption (e.g., a 20% year‑on‑year reduction, focusing on repeat incidents).
  • Improved student engagement and participation in enrichment, House and leadership activities (e.g., a 15% increase in participation rates).
  • Improvements in progress and attainment for students receiving pastoral or behaviour interventions (e.g., a 10% improvement against baseline).
  • Improved attendance and punctuality for targeted cohorts, including PA students, with clear termly milestones.
  • Positive trends in student, staff and parent survey data relating to behaviour, safety, inclusion and wellbeing.
  • Evidence of consistent implementation of routines, recognition and sanctions across all areas of the school.
  • Maintenance of the current high levels of excellence in the mainstream and IP SEND provision.
