Laxton Junior School

At Laxton Junior School, our children and their learning are the centre of all that we do. In a caring and supportive environment, they become exceptional, lifelong learners, who confidently embrace the wide-ranging opportunities that we offer and are able to face challenges with determination and resilience. We believe that all learning opportunities should be challenging, inspiring and engaging and, through our talented and passionate staff, we ensure this contributes to fantastic progress across and beyond the curriculum.

The personalised learning programmes that we have in place ensure that all our children, from those who require some extra support to those working beyond age-related expectations, receive the perfect balance of support and challenge, alongside a sense of fun and enjoyment that must accompany learning.

The Role

The Assistant Head Co-Curricular is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team and plays a central role in shaping the character and culture of the School. At Laxton Junior School, co-curricular education is not an adjunct to academic life; it is fundamental to developing confident, resilient and well-rounded young people.

The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the School’s enrichment provision, including sport, music, drama, clubs, houses, pupil leadership and charitable initiatives. They will articulate a clear and ambitious vision while ensuring that programmes, events and activities are delivered with energy, inclusivity and precision.

This role requires a leader who can inspire colleagues, champion excellence and broaden opportunity, ensuring that every pupil finds their passion and thrives. As a member of the Leadership Team, the Assistant Head Co-Curricular will help shape whole-school strategy and drive a vibrant, aspirational culture that defines the lived experience of pupils across the School.

The post carries a 50% teaching commitment, to be agreed based on the strengths of the successful candidate and the needs of the School.
