Production Technician Lead – Ottumwa, IA
The Group Lead is responsible for maximizing the performance of a specific department or function. The role requires an in‑depth understanding of the technical and operational aspects of the line, hands‑on equipment operation, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. The Lead will work within a highly automated TPM‑based environment, execute standardized processes following standard work, perform layered process audits, and facilitate structured problem solving to drive waste out of the system and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
As a leader in a High Performing Team based environment, the position will train, mentor, and guide less‑experienced operators, ensuring safety, and delivering world‑class cost, quality, and service performance. The Lead will regularly interact with site leadership to review operating results, communicate status of improvement initiatives, and participate in plant‑wide initiatives.
This is a full‑time position on the 2nd Shift. Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as scheduled is required.
Key Responsibilities- Direct and coach production operators with daily and weekly production schedules.
- Ensure beverage packaging operations meet safety, quality, productivity, and waste reduction goals.
- Manage within established labor and operating expense budgets.
- Monitor and ensure proper functioning of all equipment and safe working conditions.
- Complete and maintain accurate production documentation and records.
- Analyze production data to identify and act on opportunities for improvement.
- Recommend long‑term solutions for equipment, materials, processes, and productivity enhancements.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing practices.
- Ensure standardized work processes are followed and corrective actions are implemented.
- Promote a team‑oriented environment and develop direct reports through mentoring and problem‑solving.
- Drive skills development and capability building within the team.
- Hourly Pay $24.32

- Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in manufacturing, preferably in food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or chemical industries.
- Hands‑on experience with high‑speed production machinery and quality monitoring.
- Strong time‑management, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
