This position is responsible for the preparation of waiver valuations for land acquisition purposes. This position also assists with preparation of appraisals and provides various support functions for the appraisal and negotiation units of the Land Acquisition Section.
Essential Functions- Completes the preparation of waiver valuations as assigned and directed.
- Maintains records pertaining to waiver valuations, appraisals, reviews, and other information pertinent to the administration of the Appraisal Unit.
- Assists with preparation of appraisals.
- Assists with local public agency land acquisition certification reviews/approvals.
- Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Completion of two years of college majoring in engineering, construction management, or related fields PLUS two years of professional experience in real estate, surveying, title work, land acquisition, appraisal, negotiation, property management or relocation assistance or a combination thereof; OR three years of professional experience in real estate, surveying, title work, land acquisition, appraisal, negotiation, property management or relocation assistance or a combination thereof.
- Working knowledge of waiver valuations, real estate appraisals, negotiations, property management,and relocation principles.
- Ability to establish and maintain effectual working relations with property owners, attorneys,internal/external Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) staff, and government officials.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Forty-five hours of coursework in real estate appraisal.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Districtwide travel.
- Successful completion of a background screening.
- Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position. As a result, the employee should be aware that if offered non-State employment during state employment or within one year immediately after ending State employment, the employee shall, prior to accepting any such non-State employment offer, notify the Office of the Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor (OEIG) or may be subject to a fine.
