Tandem & Triaxle Truck Driver

M. Davis Landscape & Design Inc. is hiring a full-time Truck Driver for the upcoming busy season. The ideal candidate will have experience operating triaxle and tandem trucks and be ready to join our hardworking team. This is an excellent opportunity to work for one of the largest landscape companies in Ottawa and Eastern Ontario.

Working under our landscape management team and dispatcher your requirements and responsibilities will include:

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of dump truck and float experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Punctual and reliable.
• Organized and able to prioritize deadlines.
• Class DZ drivers license required with clean abstract.
• Class AZ drivers license is an asset.
• Ability to operate a manual transmission.
• Ability to work long hours during peak season
• Able to lift fifty (50) pounds, step up and down into truck, kneel, reach and bend.
• Must have own transportation.

Responsibilities

• Operate and drive primarily dump trucks with a float trailer to various job sites.
• Maintain proper communications, paperwork and electronic logs.
• Preform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspections with mobile device.
• Chain, load and unload equipment and material.
• Observe, monitor and report any necessary maintenance, servicing and condition of the equipment.
• Follow all rules and regulations of the Highway Traffic Act and Regulations.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment, including keeping the truck and cab clean.
• Work in a way that will not endanger yourself or others.
• Understand the hazards associated with your tasks and controls in place.
• Use protective devices, PPE, and clothing based on legislation, and Davis Landscaping safe work practices and safe job procedures.
• Report all incidents, defects, unsafe conditions, and unidentified hazard to your supervisor.
• Do not remove or interfere with any safeguards.
• Attend companywide meetings, toolbox talks, and participate in pre-job safety assessments.
• WHMIS, 4 Step Health & Safety Awareness, Workplace Violence & Harassment for Workers, and AODA.
• Adhere to all OHSA regulations, M. Davis Landscape & Design Inc. Health and Safety policies and procedures, and comply with site specific rules.

This is a full-time position. Renumeration is based on qualifications and experience.
