Position: Dash 8‐300 Captain – Aerial Firefighting (Direct Entry)

✈️ About the role

In this direct‑entry Captain position, you’ll command our Dash 8‑300 fleet on aerial firefighting and support operations across international bases. You’ll set the tone for safety and performance, lead a professional crew, and ensure every sortie is executed to the highest standard, day or night, under IFR/VFR as operationally required.

🧭 What you’ll do
  • Command Dash 8‑300 aerial firefighting missions and related support flights with uncompromising safety and airmanship.
  • Lead a multi‑crew operation, setting clear briefings, roles, and standards; make timely, risk‑aware decisions as PIC.
  • Plan and execute missions: performance, weight and balance, fuel, MEL/CDL compliance, weather, NOTAMs, terrain and obstacle environment.
  • Coordinate effectively with air attack/ground agencies, ATC, maintenance, and base operations for responsive launches and turnarounds.
  • Manage normal, abnormal, and emergency procedures in line with SOPs and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct thorough pre/post‑flight inspections and tech log entries; champion a proactive safety culture and SMS reporting.
  • Support mobilizations to international bases; operate flexibly across varying duty periods, including overnight shifts.
🧰 Minimum requirements
  • Total time: 1500 hours
  • PIC time: 500 hours
  • In type: 250 hours on Dash 8‑300
  • Type rating: Dash 8‑300 type‑rated
  • License req.: CPL with IR and ME (TCCA)
  • Medical: Class 1
  • ICAO ELP level: 4 or higher
  • Covid‑19 vaccination: Required where permitted by applicable law

  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving skills and ability to identify solutions in time‑critical settings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willing to work overnight shifts as required by operations.
  • Clear Criminal Background Check.
