General Worker - Passenger car cleaner

Overview

VIA Rail Canada Inc., Canada's national passenger rail service, is currently looking to fill Passenger Car Cleaner (General Worker) positions for our Ottawa Maintenance centre. VIA Rail is carrying out ambitious projects to modernize its services and infrastructure, building the future of transportation in Canada and working for sustainable mobility.

• Plug the train into wayside power
• Clean the locomotive cab
• Remove garbage and restock
• Shut down the Genset and the main engine
• Go into the cars and clean the train: vacuum the cars, remove all garbage from the bins and collect garbage from the bathrooms; clean seat trays, windows inside the train, washrooms, and sanitize

Full‑time position – Night shift.

Hourly salary: $34.36/h

• High School Diploma
• Capable of lifting weights up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
• Flexible regarding work schedules

• Mechanical aptitudes (trade an asset)
