JOB SUMMARY
The mandate of Community Recreation, Culture & Sports Services is to build an inclusive, vibrant, and creative city, unique in identity, and rich in culture. The Service provides strategic vision and innovative leadership in managing customer centric sports and recreation venues and programs, including the management of facilities and/or land for the delivery of indoor and outdoor recreation programs and services, and fosters an environment in which Ottawa’s arts, heritage, festival and event sectors can evolve sustainably.
Under the guidance of a Program Coordinator, you are responsible for the monitoring and supervision of the Beach Volleyball Program participants to ensure participants have a safe and enjoyable program experience. Duties include the set-up and takedown of equipment, assisting with program evaluations, equipment rentals and other administrative tasks. You may also assist senior staff with the delivery of programs/activities. Work is performed in accordance with related legislation, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
You are also responsible for understanding and following all City of Ottawa guidelines, policies and procedures in relation to cash handling and customer service.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Note:
minimum age of 16 years is required for this Summer Student job.
High School Graduate - entering college/university in the fall
Note:
Student must be returning to school in the fall
Minimum of 4 months but less than 8 months of related experience is required - Knowledge and ability to coach and supervise beach volleyball
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES
Current Standard First Aid, CPR-C and AED certificatesAODA Accessibility/IASR Training Appropriate coaching certification in a relevant specialty recreation/sports program
Access to reliable transportation is required.
