Canada Soccer is seeking a Manager of Club Licensing to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic Development Department team and has a specific role in leading and overseeing the Canada Soccer Club Licensing Program, a progressive classification, development, and appraisal program designed to guide clubs and academies throughout the country toward best principles for organizational development both on and off the field.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead the continued implementation of the Canada Soccer Club Licensing Program nationally.
- Oversee the delivery of the Canada Soccer Club Licensing Program through the Provincial/Territorial Member Associations.
- Revise and maintain the standards, processes, and regulations of the Club Licensing Program in consultation with the Provincial/Territorial Member Associations.
- Lead the application, review, and licensing process for the National Youth Club License category of recognition.
- Align standards to raise the quality of clubs and academies in alignment to the Canada Soccer Ecosystem, including the Canada Soccer Grassroots Standards, Grassroots Program, Canada Soccer Player Development Program (PDP), Toyota National Championships, Safe Sport Roster, and Provincial/Territorial Member Association environments and competitions.
- Manage the online Club Licensing System (CLS).
- Work with and support clubs, academies, districts/regions, and other relevant groups to implement best principles and practices through the Club Licensing Program.
- Collaborate with staff in the design, delivery, and management of Development Department Programs and Services.
- Liaise with Member Association staff to align implementation and delivery of the Canada Soccer Club Licensing Program throughout Canada.
- Act always in a manner that will enhance the value, name, reputation, and image of Canada Soccer, its leadership and support team.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Director of Development, which may include the following, depending on skillset of the successful candidate:
- Serve as a Coach Developer within the Canada Soccer Advanced Coach Education Program
- Support and play an active role in Canada Soccer Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibilities programs and initiatives under the guidance of the Director, Community and Sport Inclusion.
- Review Club Licensing applications.
- Approve applications reviewed by the Canada Soccer Club Licensing Committee or Member Associations.
- Revise and maintain the standards, processes, and regulations of the Club Licensing Program.
Education & Experience
- Minimum three (3) year degree/diploma in Sports Administration/Management, Business, or a related field; or proven skills in one or more of these areas.
- Minimum 5-years progressive work experience.
- Experience working in a diverse sporting environment. A thorough understanding of the grassroots Canadian soccer landscape and soccer structure Nationally and Provincially is essential.
- Experience working in and leading high performing teams comprised of individuals with diverse backgrounds.
- Experience in developing and maintaining effective relationships, with proven problem solving, conflict resolution and mediation skills.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong writing and presentation skills with an ability to write reports, persuasive presentations and to create learning materials to support programs.
- Strong computer skills; comfortable using Office 365 and Google Workspace; excellence in project management is required.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends; prepared to travel; ability to drive.
- Highly organized with strong project management skills and attention to detail.
- Collaborative team player comfortable working in a cross-functional environment.
- Bilingual (English/French) preferred; additional languages considered an asset.
