About Dominion Dynamics

Dominion Dynamics is building Canada’s first modern defence prime: software-defined, attritable, and sovereign.

Full Stack Software Engineer

Preferred

Location:

Ottawa
Reports to: CTO
Type: Full-Time

We believe tomorrow’s military power won’t hinge on exquisite platforms, but on the seamless coordination of adaptable, AI-driven capabilities across every domain. We’re building that family of systems, fielded with operators, sovereign by design, and accountable to Canada’s democratic values. We move fast, deploy with the CAF, especially in the Arctic, and operate with uncompromising respect for Canadian law, treaty obligations, and the CAF community.

Our founding team includes former operators from Anduril, Google, Amazon, and the Canadian Armed Forces. We’re building hard tech in hard places, and we're looking for system-level thinkers who thrive at the intersection of autonomy, aerospace, and national security.

Why This Role Matters

We build software that runs at the edge, tightly integrated with sensors, vehicles, and deployed teams; where reliability and clarity can be mission-critical. Forward-deployed engineers close the gap between lab prototypes and operational capability by shipping resilient platform features, integrating with hardware, and supporting systems in the field. This role directly increases our operational uptime and accelerates the pace at which we move from experiment to deployed capability.

The Role:

Full Stack Software Engineer

You will drive development across platform layers - from backend ingestion and data processing to frontend visualization and embedded integrations - working closely with hardware and embedded system teams. This role centers on designing, testing, and operating resilient telemetry and interface systems for constrained, forward-deployed environments.

What You’ll Do
  • Design and implement backend services and APIs that ingest, normalize, and serve telemetry and mission data.
  • Build frontend interfaces and dashboards that surface critical system state and analytics for operators.
  • Integrate software with sensors, embedded systems, and edge compute nodes; ensure robust data flows and fault-tolerant behaviour.
  • Write and maintain automated tests, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment tooling to ensure repeatable, auditable releases.
  • Optimize data storage and query patterns (SQL/No

SQL) for low-latency access and efficient telemetry archival.
  • Instrument observability and alerting (logs, metrics, traces) to support on‑call and field diagnostics.
  • Collaborate with embedded systems and mechanical engineers to define interfaces and validate end‑to‑end performance.
  • Support field deployments and troubleshooting (travel to sites as required); incorporate field feedback into rapid iterations.
  • Mentor peers and contribute to engineering best practices, code reviews, and technical design docs.
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Senior candidates: 5+ years building production backend/frontend systems;
Mid candidates: 2-4 years. We’re hiring at both levels.
  • Strong production experience in Python and JavaScript/Type Script; comfort writing clean, testable code.
  • Experience with SQL and relational data modeling; familiarity with Go and/or C++ is a strong advantage.
  • Practical experience with web frameworks and libraries (Flask or similar), dashboarding/visualization tools, and testing frameworks (PyTest, etc.).
  • Experience with one or more of:
Android, ATAK/TAK plugin development, AWS services (ECS, EKS, Lambda, S3).
  • Proficiency with Git, JSON/YAML config, containerization, and CI/CD tooling.
  • Proven ability to integrate with hardware or work closely with embedded teams (sensor data, bandwidth‑constrained links).
  • Comfortable operating in forward‑deployed/field environments: pragmatic, low‑ego problem‑solver who can debug under pressure and iterate quickly.
  • Eligibility for Canadian security clearance preferred;
    Canadian citizenship an asset.
Why Join Us

At Dominion Dynamics, we’re designing systems that work where others fail, in the most extreme environments on Earth.

At Dominion Dynamics you’ll
  • Shape the future of Canada’s sovereign defence.
  • Build real capability in fields with CAF and allies.
  • Move fast, field fast with small teams, high trust, and rapid iteration.
  • Operate with integrity under Canadian law and treaty obligations.
  • Have impact from day one with equity, responsibility, and direct access to leadership.
Compensation

We offer competitive salary and meaningful equity participation.
