Engine Workshop Technician
We are looking for an In-shop diesel technician to join our team in Ottawa.
Cummins offers a 5000$ sign-on bonus for this position.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Apply documented procedures and policies to perform diagnostics and complex repairs.
- Perform preventative maintenance based on assessment of engine.
- Complete required documentation, such as work completed documents, time sheets, warranty claims and quality forms, via handwritten or business system input screens.
- Complete training in line with skill and business requirements.
- Coach and develop technicians and/or apprentices and transfer knowledge and experience to others; may provide work direction; may review repair plans, parts lists, etc.
- Maintain work area and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.
- Adhere to and ensures adherence of more junior technicians to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to their supervisor.
In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:
Diploma, Certification, license:
- Red seal 310T certification is required for this role.
- Locally valid driving permit
- This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
- Diagnostic, electrical, chassis, and heavy‑duty engine experience is an asset.
- Ability to read technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Familiarity with OEM diagnostic software (e.g., INSITE).
- Flexibility to attend service calls or support other locations as needed.
- Advanced level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products.
About the role:
- Engine repairs, diagnostics, aftertreatment work, chassis work.
- Cummins values a safety environment.
- Regular working hours are from 7am to 3:30pm - flexibility to work extra hours is required.
- Salary between 38$-43$ hourly to start, depending on experience.
