Position: Industrial Electrician 442A and/or Millwright 433A

Rideau Transit Maintenance is a General Partnership firm of ACS Infrastructure Canada, SNC Lavalin O&M, and Ellis Don. RTM has a long-term contract to maintain the Confederation Line, the new light rail transit system in Ottawa. Rideau Transit Maintenance is currently seeking an experienced permanent full time Facility Maintenance Millwright to be part of RTM’s facility maintenance team. This team is responsible for the maintenance of Confederation Line passenger stations, the Maintenance and Storage Facility, and Traction Power substation buildings. Job Requirements
  • Monitoring facilities, electrical and mechanical equipment and other facility systems by conducting regular facility walkthroughs and inspections.
  • Performing maintenance and repairs to facilities, mechanical and electrical equipment, and other facility systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks on equipment such as Train Wash, Lifting Jacks, Sanding Systems, Wheel Lathe(s), Cranes, Forklifts, Fleet Vehicles, etc.
  • Complete part fabrication, repairs, alterations and improvements as required on system elements.
  • Assist the Facilities Maintenance Technicians when required (their shifts are 12-hour shifts - 24/7 rotation);
  • Coordination of facility maintenance subcontractors, ensuring limited disruption to the system, safety, and quality of workmanship.
  • Respond to service requests and demand maintenance and perform or arrange routine and emergency service on facility equipment and systems as necessary.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs machinery and equipment in breakdown situations to ensure continuance and minimize downtimes.
  • Improves and maintains electrical, instrumentation & automation systems, including preventative and predictive maintenance.
  • Develop and document inspection and maintenance routines and standard work procedures.
  • Perform work in accordance with established procedures, risk management practices and safety in accordance with the requirements of the project agreement.
  • Record status of maintenance & repair work within a CMMS system.
  • Ensures work completed meets response time and quality requirements.
  • Comply with all internal and external requirements including but not limited to environmental, health and safety, risk management, and fire protection requirements; and
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Education / Experience
  • High school diploma and trade certifications (Industrial Mechanic Millwright 433A, and/or Industrial Electrician 442A).
  • Five years + of experience as a Millwright or Electrician in an industrial environment.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills and experience.
  • Valid drivers’ license required to perform work at multiple sites.
  • Previous equipment and system troubleshooting and resolution skills for automated systems.
  • An aptitude and comfort in using diagnostic computer systems and software.
  • Familiarity with a Centralized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Acquired competency required in mechanical and electronic systems.
  • Experience in providing high quality service to customers & good interpersonal relationships.
  • Good judgement & effective in solving practical problems, responds quickly, calmly and appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work efficiently & independently in an unsupervised environment.
  • Demonstrate a strong health, safety, quality, and environmental mindset.
  • Previous experience within rail transit or rail transportation industry considered an asset.
  • Experience or certifications such as Forklift, Fall Arrest, working at heights, etc.; are assets.
  • Experience working in a LEED certified facility; and
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure and adapt to constant change.
