The Foreman provides leadership, schedules, coordinates, supervises and ensures the productivity and safety of the work crew and the public. As a key participant in the relationship with the client, consultants and the company, the foreman acts as a management liaison and a client interface.

- The foreman must promote a safe work culture, is accountable for the safety of the crew as well as the general public
- Knowing, understanding, communicating and ensuring compliance with the safety regulations (Health and Safety Act) and safety policies and procedures outlined in the company policy
- Completing daily and weekly safety forms and incident reports as required
- Leads the crew and is accountable for how the crew completes assigned work
- Communicating and assigning individual tasks to a member or members of his crew
- Ability to hold crew members accountable, including disciplinary action as required
- Setting work standards and outlining behavioural expectations to ensure crew morale and productivity
- Interact and collaborate with Sub Contractors, Other Tomlinson Departments, PM’s/PC’s, inspectors and clients
- Following the project plans and schedules and ensuring that the crew’s daily and weekly activities meet production goals
- Understanding the work at hand, organize the workforce and equipment
- Discussing and planning with the manager/superintendent the proposed work
- Completing administrative tasks including the input of labour and equipment times daily
- Ensuring that the completed work meets the specifications
- Ensuring proper techniques are utilized to achieve the highest possible workmanship and quality of work
- Inspecting the completed work and initiating timely resolutions if required
- Ability to plan, execute, and supervise the installation of Shoring and Piling work
- Maintaining a strong work ethic and positive attitude which will motivate the crew to meet goals
- Train and mentor crew members on construction best practices and procedures
- Work on a construction site
- Exposure to all elements – summer heat, rain etc.
- Completion of secondary school is usually required
- 5+ years of industry field experience
- The expected range for this position is based on a collective agreement. Placement within the range is dependent on a variety of factors including qualifications and experience.
