Rate of Pay:
Hourly wage of $29.69 after successfully passing probation period (1 year). Starting wage is 80% of $29.69 ($23.75/hr) for first 6 months. 6 months to 12 months wage is 90% of $29.69 ($26.72/hr). Night shift has a premium of 7.5% immediately. Weekday day shift has a 2.5% premium after 1 year.

Position Summary
As a Security Guard within our corporate Security Team, you will be responsible for protecting our employees, our assets and the integrity of our secure facilities. You will achieve this by manning an Integrated Security Operations Center (ISOC) and effectively operating and troubleshooting the internal/external security and life-safety systems and by identifying and addressing threats to the security of employees and operations.
Responsibilities
- Control access to and movement of personnel (employees, visitors, contractors) within the building via a computerized access control system and ensure that no one is granted access to zones for which they are not authorized.
- Perform regular internal/external building security patrols and monitor security cameras to ensure that mandated security and health and safety procedures are being adhered to across the building and grounds. Investigate identified security and health and safety threats building maintenance issues, communicate them to the ISOC and report them to management.
- Act as a first responder and react quickly and effectively to emergency situations (fire, flood, chemical, medical, criminal, etc.) by initiating and following established emergency management plans to protect and preserve life, assets and the facility.
- Ensure the security of our facility and assets by monitoring incoming/outgoing deliveries and shipments. Visually inspect personnel’s purses, bags, toolboxes, etc., on departure from the facility to ensure no unauthorized material is removed.
- Prepare and submit incident/occurrence reports for security and health and safety-related incidents and communicate and escalate accordingly. Complete daily shift reports and maintain a notebook of your recorded observations regarding potential security or health and safety related threats pertaining to facility issues or personnel behaviours.
Knowledge and Experience
- Diploma in Police Foundations or similar (mandatory requirement)
- Knowledge of the following:
- Familiarity with Security Audits
- Familiarity with the Trespass to Properties Act
- Experience with the following:
- Security Operations Center
- CCTV systems
- Access control systems
- Previous experience in a security related position

Mandatory Requirements
- License: Valid Ontario Security Guard License; valid Driver's License (G Class)
- Certifications: Valid First Aid and CPR certifications
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand/walk for extended periods, ability to push/pull up to 45 lbs
- Security Requirements: Ability to obtain (in a timely manner) and maintain Government of Canada Secret (Level II) clearance.
