Job Skills / Requirements

Position: Smoking Patrol (Outdoors)

Site: Algonquin College

City: Ottawa, ON

Status: Full-Time

Hours: Monday to Friday -

Pay Rate: $17.00/hour

Algonquin College on January 1, 2019 announced a policy of no smoking on College property. The policy has evolved and is now to include all campus buildings and grounds. Previous smoking areas have been signed and are now included in the smoking ban. This post includes an outside presence. There is approximately 12 km of walking per shift.

• Continuous patrols throughout the campus to deter smoking on campus property.
• Visit the areas in which smoking was previously permitted to inform students staff and the public of the new policy.
• Report to the Paladin security shift Supervisor.
• Record interactions with staff students and the general public as prescribed by policy.
• Use a notebook and write reports as required.
• Issue written notices of infraction as directed by policy.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must not be currently enrolled as a student at Algonquin College
• Valid Ontario Security Guard License
• Valid First Aid/CPR Certificate
• Must be able to work in outdoor weather conditions

At the time of the interview applicant must be able to produce proof of completion of the following prerequisites:

• Immunization Record
• A Valid Ontario Security Guard License
• Proficient in English (both oral and written)
• First Aid & CPR – Level C
