General Store Manager

Trailhead Paddle Shack is seeking a dynamic and passionate Manager to join our management team at our flagship store in Ottawa. This role is perfect for an outdoor enthusiast with strong leadership skills, a customer-first mindset, and a knack for operational excellence. As a key member of our team, you’ll help drive our vision forward, ensuring our customers and staff thrive in an environment that celebrates adventure and community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise, mentor, and motivate a team of outdoor enthusiasts, fostering a positive and collaborative work culture.
• Oversee daily operations to ensure exceptional service, drawing on your expertise to assist customers with paddling, camping, skiing, and other outdoor gear needs.
• Manage inventory, optimize product displays, and drive sales strategies that align with seasonal trends and customer demand.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming store environment, overseeing scheduling, budgeting, and compliance with company policies.
• Create protocols to protect the store, including theft management.
• Contribute innovative ideas to enhance our offerings, improve processes, and support the long-term success of the business.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of retail management or supervisory experience, preferably in the outdoor or specialty retail sector.
• Passion for outdoor activities (paddling, camping, hiking, skiing, etc.) and a strong knowledge of related gear and apparel.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect with staff, customers, and vendors.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
• Proficiency with point-of-sale systems, inventory management software, and basic office tools.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and peak seasons as needed.
