Rotation/Shifts- Days and nights, including weekends, 12 hour shifts.
- Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario;
- Ability to perform BCLS to the College of Nurses Standards;
- Demonstrates knowledge of the nursing process and the ability to apply this knowledge in the clinical setting;
- Demonstrates theoretical knowledge of the care of the general patient in the unit and the ability to apply this knowledge in a clinical setting;
- Demonstrates a commitment to continuing education and a willingness to actively participate in departmental education activities;
- Demonstrates the ability to assess the patient's learning needs and ability to plan appropriate teaching;
- Demonstrates a respectful attitude to patients, the public and colleagues;
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in an oral and written format with patients, public, colleagues and other health professional;
- Ability to work autonomously and within the multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment;
- Demonstrates an understanding and a willingness to participate in self-evaluation;
- Must be eligible to work in Canada;
- Proficiency in English and French - oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
- Two (2) years medical surgical experience;
- Current consolidation experience in cardiovascular care;
- Experience with cardiac monitoring / arrhythmia interpretation;
- Recent course in coronary care, critical care or UOHI Cardiac Nursing Series;
- Experience reading and interpreting 12 lead ECG;
- Member of RNAO;
- Member of CCCN.
