Materials Recycling Facility; MRF Operator

We are seeking adedicated and self-sufficient Material Recovery Facility Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for receiving, sorting, and baling recyclables, ensuring efficient and accurate processing of materials. Additionally, you will coordinate all outgoing loads, maintaining clear communication with transporters and management to ensure timely and organized shipments. This role requires strong communication skills, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to operate and maintain equipment while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Receive, sort, and bale recyclable materials efficiently
• Coordinate all outgoing loads and maintain shipping schedules
• Operate balers, forklifts, loaders, and other heavy equipment safely
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment
• Monitor material streams for contamination and ensure finished bales meet quality standards
• Maintain accurate records of processed materials and quality checks
• Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations
• Report hazards, incidents, and equipment issues promptly
• Demonstrate responsibility, reliability, and the ability to work independently

Qualifications & Skills:

• Previous experience in recycling, waste management, or industrial operations preferred
• Ability to operate heavy equipment and perform basic maintenance
• Physically capable of climbing in and out of equipment repeatedly and lifting up to 50 kg
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Attention to detail for contamination checks and quality standards
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, outdoor/industrial setting
• Ability to work independently with occasional weekend duties

Compensation Information:

The expected salary range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00 per hour. Placement within the range is dependant on a variety of factors including qualifications and experience.
