Our team is seeking a Manager of Science and Technology (S&T) Operational Excellence to lead continuous improvement across S&T Facilities and Laboratories—a pply today!
- Providing oversight of Conduct of Operations across all S&T Facilities and Laboratories, and driving continuous improvement in safety and operational excellence.
- Leading the coordination, oversight, and follow‑up of all events and incidents within S&T Facilities/Laboratories, including timely reporting to S&T leadership and ensuring corrective actions support safe, compliant operations.
- Supporting the Director of S&T Facilities Operations in strategic and operational planning for all facility activities and new initiatives, collaborating with S&T leadership and internal partners to meet organizational objectives and monitor performance against CNL goals.
- Ensuring all Conduct of Operations documents and operating procedures are current, accurate, and relevant across all Facilities/Laboratories.
- Ensuring systems remain fit for service through effective configuration management aligned with laboratory and operational needs.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
- Education
- Post-Secondary education from a University or College of recognized standing in engineering or the physical sciences.
- Experience
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a Research and Development (R&D)/S&T environment within the nuclear industry.
- Substantial demonstrated experience in process improvement and performance assurance initiatives, including the development and implementation of training materials.
- Experience (3-5 years) supervising staff is considered an asset.
- Experience and ability to identify and quantify risks and develop and execute mitigation plans.
- Organizational knowledge and experience reaching out to corporate groups are assets.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated leadership skills with an ability to inspire and influence others.
- Knowledge of Apparent Cause Analysis, Kepner Tregoe problem solving or Lean Green or Black Belt training is an asset.
- Understanding of Human Performance fundamentals is an asset.
- Demonstrated “safety first” attitude.
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing, to gather information from various sources and to present possible options and initiatives for improvement in a change-resistant environment.
- Proven initiative, motivation, and good people skills to work with various groups across CNL and with external clients.
- Self-motivated, disciplined and able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Ability to negotiate acceptable timelines and actions for the resolution of schedule issues.
- Skills to challenge assumptions and plans proposed by others in an objective and professional manner.
- Broad understanding of the Business and QA processes, Compliance Programs.
- Demonstrated ability in problem analysis, action planning and making decisions in a timely manner.
- Analytical skills to use with available data to determine safety and operational improvements within S&T Laboratories, enhance performance and reduce the significance and occurrence of unplanned events.
- Highly proficient at executing and leading investigations, determining root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
- Highly proficient in computer skills, including Word, Excel, Oracle, etc.
- Demonstrated experience and success in leading and collaborating with multi-disciplined teams.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
