To support this priority, Amazon is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Site Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Manager to join our team. This role partners with the site‑level operations team to execute company WHS policies and ensure compliance with all applicable local and regional regulations.

Leveraging lean principles and Kaizen events, you will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk, ensuring a safe and healthful working environment for our associates.

Responsibilities
  • Act as SME of local/regional regulations and company WHS policy.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance to all applicable Amazon Safety Policies.
  • Measure site performance against published requirements in safety policies and identify corrective action plans for deficiencies.
  • Ensure safety record‑keeping and data integrity, providing Operations with accurate reporting and metrics to support business safety initiatives.
  • Deliver on‑time, quality projects to Operations.
  • Deep‑dive safety metrics and review incident trends weekly and monthly to identify high‑risk areas.
  • Propose action plans to senior leadership based on trend analysis.
  • Audit record‑keeping practices and Global Safety Database entries to ensure compliance with global safety standards and local regulations.
  • Audit workplace organization and associate behaviors, ensuring training, auditing, and scoring methods are accurate and consistent.
  • Manage and mentor Safety Managers and Safety Associates in your assigned site.
  • Engage Injury Prevention Specialists and site leadership to drive long‑term strategic actions to achieve incident reduction.
  • Conduct targeted Kaizen events with Operations teams on identified risks (force, repetition, awkward postures).
  • Ensure site leadership and associates are trained on their responsibilities under each policy.
  • Audit the quality, delivery, and effectiveness of all required safety training.
  • Review and revise deployed safety tools to ensure continual improvement.
  • Partner with corporate and regional field safety personnel to apply global safety and environmental best practices into NA network standards.
Additional Job Elements
  • Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.
  • Stand or walk for up to 12 hours during shifts.
  • Work in an environment where the noise level varies.
  • Work in an environment that is subject to variable temperatures and weather (e.g., delivery stations with outside loading departments).
  • Continuously climb and descend stairs (applicable to sites with stairs).
  • Maintain effective care delivery in emergencies and assist emergency response at the site.

Those that do not have an adult First Aid, CPR, AED certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross must obtain it within 3 weeks of start date.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 7+ years of increasing responsibilities in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations.
  • 7+ years of increasing responsibilities in people and performance management.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment.
  • Willingness to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends, as required to support direct reports and site needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Certified Safety Professional preferred.
  • Experience in a fast‑paced, dynamic organization.
  • Interest in long‑term career development through assignments in multiple FCs across the nation.
  • Prior experience in a management development training program.
  • Track record of effectively managing a safety operation comprising both salaried and hourly staff.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing others into higher levels of responsibility.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with Directors and VPs.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
