Established in 1922, the Fruit & Vegetable Growers of Canada (FVGC) is an Ottawa-based, voluntary, not-for-profit national association that represents the voices of fruit and vegetable growers across Canada. The FVGC advocates for the fresh produce sector, championing significant issues to promote healthy, safe, and sustainable food. Committed to industry growth and success, the FVGC plays a pivotal role in advancing the interests of its members, advocating for issues around labour, crop protection, environment, trade, etc.

Reporting to the President, the Executive Director (ED) will execute a bold and compelling vision that drives the growth of the Canadian fruit and vegetable sector. A clear communicator, the ED will lead a team of 10 staff and steward a budget of approximately $1.5 million dollars, while aligning the diverse membership on key priorities for the association. The new ED will craft a government relations strategy, spearheading initiatives that solidify FVGC’s position as the primary authority on key policy and regulatory issues concerning the sector.

The ED will cultivate a collaborative, high-performing work environment to achieve the organization's mission.

The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader who seamlessly blends advocacy, strategic planning prowess, and financial acumen. With a proven track record in taking charge, this individual has elevated organizational profiles, fostered member engagement, and spearheaded initiatives to enhance operational efficiency. Their strategic foresight has been instrumental in navigating the complexities of the agricultural landscape, driving growth, and ensuring sustainable practices.

Furthermore, they excel in cultivating a cohesive office culture, instilling morale, and empowering staff through effective leadership. With their multifaceted expertise, this candidate is poised to steer the company towards innovation, sustainability, and unparalleled success for the agricultural sector. Proficiency in both English and French is strongly preferred.

This opportunity is structured as a hybrid position, requiring a minimum of four days per week in the office.
