Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Assistant executes routine repairs and minor maintenance with a focus on providing superior customer service to residents.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine repairs and minor maintenance on electrical, mechanical, plumbing equipment, and building structures.
• Paint, perform minor carpentry, and maintain exterior grounds (excluding contracted services).
• Regularly inspect premises for maintenance and safety, and report findings to supervisor.
• Follow facility policies, procedures, safety rules, and safe working practices.
• Fulfill housekeeping and maintenance duties as assigned, including handyman responsibilities.
• Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents).
• Uphold organizational values related to ethics, morality, and integrity.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Ability to work independently and self-regulate.
• Physical capability to perform duties, including moving heavy objects.
• Familiarity with minor repairs to facilities and equipment.
• Training in plumbing, electrical, heating, water, gas, mechanical, plastering, and painting.
• Ability to manage a budget, track work, and record costs.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety standards.
• Must provide a current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Background Check or willingness to obtain one.
