A well-established Ottawa law firm is seeking a Mortgage Enforcement Law Clerk to join its growing litigation team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented law clerk with experience in mortgage enforcement, personal loan collections, and litigation support
, who is looking to further develop their expertise in a collaborative and professional environment.
The successful candidate will support lawyers on litigation files, with a strong focus on mortgage enforcement matters. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Managing the mortgage enforcement process from start to finish
- Communicating directly with debtors, lenders, and property managers for collection purposes
- Drafting legal documents, correspondence, and reports
- Preparing and assembling motion records, affidavits, and other court materials
- Arranging for service of documents and completing court filings
- Opening, maintaining, and updating files within ACL (Automated Civil Litigation) software
- Coordinating Bring Forwards (BFs) and tracking key deadlines
- Maintaining organized and accurate records
- Assisting with other duties as required to support the litigation team
- 2–4 years of experience as a law clerk, legal assistant, or in a litigation support role
- Experience with mortgage enforcement, power of sale, residential real estate, and/or personal loan collections is strongly preferred
- Familiarity with the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure is an asset
- Experience using ACL Automated Civil Litigation software is an asset
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients, lawyers, and external parties
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
- Professional, responsive, and positive work ethic
