About the OpportunityAltis is looking for a Cyber Security Analyst with specialized expertise in Microsoft Sentinel and Defender to support and enhance our client’s SIEM environment. In this role, you’ll play a key part in protecting critical systems, detecting security threats, and responding to incidents. You’ll work alongside a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment where your expertise will have a direct impact on operational security.
This contract role offers exposure to cutting-edge Microsoft security tools and provides the opportunity to contribute to a major transition from Sentinel to Defender, ensuring the organization’s security posture remains strong and resilient.

Your Responsibilities- You’ll monitor and respond to security events, including intrusions, malware infections, denial of service attacks, and privileged account misuse.
- You’ll follow defined workflows for threat remediation, escalation, and handoff when required.
- You’ll utilize cloud-based and on-premises security tools to proactively analyze suspicious events and network anomalies.
- You’ll support and administer security platforms and tools in hybrid environments.
- You’ll configure and monitor the SIEM platform and work with MSSP services to guide decision-making related to alerts.
- You’ll contribute to improving security operations, including documentation, runbooks, and technical procedures.
- Proven experience with Microsoft Sentinel and Defender.
- Strong SIEM knowledge and hands-on experience in a SOC or monitoring environment.
- Ability to work onsite in downtown Ottawa 3 days per week.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., GSEC, GISP, CISSP, OSCP, or GIAC) are preferred.
- 4+ years of relevant work experience, with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, IT, or related discipline preferred.
