Director of People and CultureThe Director of People and Culture is a critical role responsible for overall accountability and management for the people management systems and people processes of the organization. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that foster an inclusive, equitable and high performing workplace, overseeing all aspects of employee engagement, talent management, and organizational development.
As an integral member of the senior leadership team, the Director provides leadership and technical expertise on an on-going basis for various initiatives while working collaboratively with other leaders, managers, staff, and community partners.
The Director of People and Culture will lead, design, plan and develop the human resource infrastructure and evaluate human resource-related initiatives that support the organization’s goals. The Director will advise and manage organizational risk related to human resources and bring an organizational, employee, and cultural lens to decision making. Leading the Human Resources team, the Director will work closely with management and employees to create a positive, progressive, productive, and engaging workplace.
Initiatives will foster a culture of client-focus, professionalism, learning, and development that is reflective of the Centre’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior Human Resource leadership role, in a generalist capacity, preferably in a fast-paced, high-growth non-profit organization.
- Experience managing and advising on complex HR situations.
- Experience developing and implementing organizational development strategies, programs and initiatives that align with the overall organizational strategy, culture and best outcomes.
- Experience advising senior management in a strategic capacity.
- Demonstrated ability to manage core human resource processes.
- Excellent English skills, spoken and written essential;
French and other languages an asset
- Strong and extensive knowledge of up-to-date human resources practices, trends, and legislation.
- Sound judgement and decision-making skills grounded in advanced personal and professional ethics and integrity.
- Experience working with underrepresented groups, such as women, people of colour, 2
SLGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, and other equity deserving communities, and a commitment to ensuring that their voices are heard and valued within the organization. - Understands, appreciates, and champions human rights, anti-racism, anti-oppression and intersectionality.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability at a strategic and operational level.
