Program
Description:
Community Mental Health ProgramCommunity mental health services provide support in non-hospital settings, including clients' homes, shelters, and community residences. This program enables individuals to receive specialized services while supporting community providers with education and consultation. The program operates through eight specialized teams based out of Carling wood Shopping Centre in Ottawa.
QualificationsCurrent registration with the College of Nurses of OntarioUp to 3 months Nursing ExperienceKnowledge of mental health/addiction issuesClear understanding of MHA and relevant legislationAble to demonstrate knowledge and skill in psychiatric nursing practice as articulated in the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice.Knowledge of mental health/addiction issues with specific knowledge about physical/medical compilations related to mental health and addictionsAble to meet the standards of nursing practice of the College of NursesCPR certification within the last 12 months (BCLS at a minimum)Evidence of continuing professional educationEffective verbal and written communications skillsEffective interpersonal and teamwork skillsProblem solving, leadership and management skills in responding to complex and rapidly changing situationsSensitivity, skills and experience working with diverse individuals and communitiesEnglish level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.Preferred Qualifications:Certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health NursingExperience in Mental Health and/or addictionsMembership and active participation in a professional nursing organization (RNAO)Experience working with homeless individuals or those at risk of homelessnessExperience working in the community and knowledge of community resourcesConcurrent Disorder TrainingSalary Range: 40.24 to 57.68 per hour
