Our current hybrid model requires employees to work on-site three days per week. This schedule supports collaboration while offering flexibility. Please note that on-site requirements may change at any time based on operational needs.
Reporting to the Director, Patient Care Services, the Manager, Patient Care Services (MPCS) oversees unit operations and out-patient services to ensure timely, coordinated and high quality patient care. This includes managing staff, resources and patient care workflows in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. The role provides leadership in staffing, development, and performance management, fostering a supportive and accountable work environment.
Duties- Oversee daily operations to ensure timely, effective service delivery and alignment with departmental goals.
- Optimize resources (staff, equipment, budgets) to maximize productivity and maintain qualified standards.
- Manage budgets, including variance reporting and analysis of staffing and overtime costs.
- Provide day-to-day leadership to achieve team goals, maintain engagement, and ensure consistent service.
- Foster teamwork and accountability through guidance, support, and promoting retention and morale.
- Lead HR activities: recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, attendance, and vacation approvals.
- Support staff development via performance evaluations, feedback, coaching, and training opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with mandatory training, policies, legislation, and safety requirements.
- Monitor workforce metrics to identify improvement opportunities and implement innovative solutions.
- Work closely with peers, physicians, scientists, leadership, and stakeholders to align departmental and hospital strategies.
- Maintain productive relationships with internal/external stakeholders through clear communication and timely responses.
- Foster a collaborative environment that encourages open communication and collective problem-solving.
- Comply with staff and patient safety practices and organizational policies.
- Uphold anti-racism, harassment-free, and discrimination-free workplace standards.
- Demonstrate commitment to health equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or Allied Health is required.
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Allied Health, Health Care Administration, Health Services Management or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years required in mental health and 3+ year’s progressive leadership in clinical services and administration experience in acute care is required.
- Current Registration and good standing with applicable regulatory college (e.g. College of Nurses).
- Mental health clinical service delivery models.
- Commitment to delivering compassionate, recovery oriented care that promotes patient dignity and involvement.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act, PHIPA, HCCA/SDA).
- Ensures compliance with healthcare laws and privacy.
- Ability to inspire motivate and develop multidisciplinary teams to achieve high performance and positive patient outcomes.
- Skilled at addressing staff conflicts, managing union relations, and negotiating solutions that balance organizational needs and employee concerns.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage staff, patient and families and stakeholders clearly and empathetically.
