THE ROLE IN A NUTSHELLGreen Shield is seeking a highly entrepreneurial Government and Public Affairs Associate Analyst to help build and scale the organization’s government presence across Canada. This is an exciting opportunity for a curious, motivated self‑starter who wants to take ownership, work with increasing independence, and contribute to meaningful work that helps advance Green Shield’s mission of Better Health for All.
Through research, analysis, environmental scanning, and hands‑on program execution, the Specialist supports advocacy efforts, government engagement activities, and market‑enabling initiatives aligned with Green Shield’s long‑term growth objectives and commitment to positive social impact. The role offers broad and meaningful exposure across public policy, government relations, and government‑facing business priorities, with opportunities to contribute to both strategy and execution.
Reporting to Green Shield’s Vice President, Government & Public Affairs, the Specialist plays an important role in ensuring the team is informed, prepared, and well coordinated. The position supports federal and provincial strategies across priority jurisdictions by producing timely insights, high‑quality written materials, and strategic program support that enable effective engagement and sustained momentum with government audiences.

Key Responsibilities:- Monitor policy, legislative and regulatory developments impacting Green Shield’s mission and growth objectives.
- Conduct research and analysis to support advocacy priorities related to health, benefits, and social policy.
- Prepare briefing notes, issue scans, summaries, and presentation materials for senior leaders and internal stakeholders.
- Support the planning and execution of government and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Coordinate inputs, timelines, and deliverables across internal teams to support advocacy and government-facing initiatives.
- Maintain trackers and reporting tools to support ongoing monitoring and analysis of government activity.
- Support internal alignment by sharing timely insights on government priorities, risks, and opportunities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, Economics, Health Policy, Business, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in public affairs, government relations, policy research, political or public sector environments, or related settings such as consulting, associations, think tanks, or not-for-profits.
- Demonstrated experience conducting research and policy monitoring, with the ability to synthesize complex information and produce clear, concise briefing notes, analysis, and written materials for internal and external audiences.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and written communication skills, with attention to detail and an ability to translate insight into action.
